Acceptable Use Policy
Vonk only works if it is safe. These are the rules every account agrees to, what happens when they are broken, and how to appeal a decision you think is wrong.
Effective: 15 September 2026Last updated: 15 September 2026
1. Who this applies to
This policy applies to every Vonk account: work seekers, employers, recruitment agencies and anyone acting on their behalf. It forms part of our Terms of Service.
2. Never allowed
- Charging a work seeker any fee — registration, admin, training, placement, deposit or otherwise.
- Asking a work seeker for banking details, card details, PINs or one-time passwords.
- Fake, duplicated, expired, bait or pyramid-style listings, or listings for work that does not exist.
- Impersonating another person, company or agency, or misrepresenting your authority to hire.
- Discrimination prohibited by the Employment Equity Act or the Constitution.
- Harassment, threats, hate speech, sexual solicitation or any request for a favour in exchange for work.
- Pushing users off-platform to avoid our safety checks, or scraping, reselling or bulk-harvesting profiles.
- Using candidate information for anything other than the recruitment purpose it was shared for.
- Attempting to break, overload, probe or bypass Vonk's security, plan limits or access controls.
- [PLACEHOLDER — any further prohibited conduct your legal adviser requires, including industry-specific restrictions.]
3. Expected of everyone
- Keep listings, profiles and CV details accurate and current.
- Respond honestly and respectfully, and close listings once filled.
- Report suspicious behaviour rather than engaging with it.
- Protect any personal information you receive through Vonk.
4. How we enforce this
Vonk uses automated scam screening plus human review. Depending on severity we may add a warning banner, pause or remove a listing, limit features, suspend an account, cancel a plan without refund where the breach is serious, or report conduct to the authorities.
[PLACEHOLDER — enforcement ladder, notice given to the account holder, and record-keeping period for enforcement decisions.]
5. Appealing a decision
If a listing or account was flagged or restricted and you believe it was wrong, open a support ticket from inside Vonk or email [PLACEHOLDER — support email address] with the reference shown on the notice. A person — not an automated system — reviews every appeal.
[PLACEHOLDER — appeal turnaround commitment and escalation contact.]
6. Reporting a problem
Use the report option on any listing or chat, the Feedback and Ticket buttons inside the app, or contact [PLACEHOLDER — support email address] · [PLACEHOLDER — support telephone number]. If anyone is in immediate danger, contact the South African Police Service first.
